Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children. ~ Kahlil Gibran

To Begin Again

A poem for Song...

There are things we must endure
Life, love, loss no stranger to our door
We live, then learn and pass the days
Taking lessons we must repay
Make note each day, mark them down
and wear upon your head a crown
inlaid with jewels cast of your tears
and swing a sword to cut your fears
to clear the path that lies before
to live, to learn, to love the more.
Change rides the strongest horse
and forever will always win
the race we run against it
the finish line crossed, we then begin
to live again, to love again to be again.
Hold dear and close the ones you love
teach them things borne of above
and you will find that in the end
we live again, love again, begin again

Pixels and Typeface...

Pixels and typeface, they are never enough. I recorded raindrops. You, curled like a cat with your head on my lap. No words, just the sound of rain falling. Never was the moment so perfect.

Pixels and Typeface, they are never enough.

Ms. Penney, Pops, and me

Gail Penney ~ April 27 at 5:13am

Ernest, ... life, it's both short and long depending on which stick you pull but you know, you have to live it ALL. Even the questions. I'm so very blessed to have you as part of my life too. Just sayin ...

I am okay with it all. We knew long ago that there is no cure, just a quality of life thing for pops. It puts me into a more caring and appreciative way for family, friends and life in general.

Gail, I am really glad to know you. Just sayin...

Another note from Ms. Penney

Move through the sadness old friend, always thinking of you x

A note from Ms. Penney

EPP: Hullo old friend. Chris Abani's Ted talk has unstitched me this morning. My heart is in Africa with old friends. I recall my friend Susanna's last words to me before she returned to Nigeria --- "I will be working in the fields but I will not stop looking for you when you come to visit me. Tell Josh (my eldest son) I will keep looking for him . So it is EPP, whether the opportunities are perfect or not, I will be working in the written field but I will not stop looking for you, I'm glad you come by, I always look for you .

Tell Pops, I love his wide grin. You've got your handsful because I detect a mischievous glint in his aging eyes x

A Letter to a Friend (anonymous for privacy)

Chnif,

In whatever you do, may your purse be filled with good fortune and many blessings. I too have seen and lived by the wretched state of humanity that fills our walks. Having been married before, and having been cut by the double edged sword of love, I finally just laid down my arms and floated, not seeking, not searching.

I once said that I would trust love only if the supreme being brought to me on platter, the perfect mate, and once though he delivered. It was not a tasty meal. This happened not once, but twice to me since my divorce, only to have the affair end as quickly and passionately as it started. I now take in my arms the lover called music. Don't get me wrong, I need as we all do. I state this to let you know that you are not alone. I am in Salt Lake City because of a call for assistance towards my family. I am bound here until the obligation ends. I dream of travel and other cities... you are lucky to have seen Europe. My plans include a visit to UK, specifically Newcastle on the Tyne and perhaps Spain. Born in Los Angeles and having lived in the largest city of each state I have lived in, I can only say that the compression of humanities' colors and types have seeped deeply into my soul and have formed an attitude that is laced with love and hate. I choose love, however difficult it may be. It is the music that keeps the choice alive.

Again, may your dreams be fulfilled and your disappointments lessened as you travel this long and sometimes lonely path.

Your friend,

OUTSOURCING OUR SELVES AWAY...

Outsourcing: Gone wild

I had a dream last night of things to come...
I saw Brahman bulls in the sky,
with round eyes which read not.
The bulls asked many questions
and floundered with the headsets they wore.
They came from the East....
It was a dream of things to come....
And wild elephant trailed behind them
the elephants spoke in tongues unknown
saying things like...
Okie dokie, yup and alrighty,
double zero this and triple zero that
And the moon shone red, pointing to the East
and it said...Hello, can you hear me? Hello, hello!
